Last week I headed out to Kingston Springs to photograph a lovely family! Jeremy and his wife won this portrait session at the benefit concert and silent auction we had for our friend Ruthie last year. UPDATE: Ruthie had the risky, neck surgery a few months ago and is recovering fabulously! We are so excited for her!

We had a wonderful time during our session. Isn’t their family super sweet?

I think I made a friend that day… little “batman” even invited me to stay to dinner. =)

Jeremy & Kierstin - thank you so much for an amazing morning!

Sweet Emma Ruth was 7 days old when I photographed her newborn session. Her mommy and daddy wanted to do a mix, some photos in their home and nursery, and some at our studio. Unfortunately, our A/C went out the day of her session so we had to postpone the studio shots for a few days.

And just in case there is someone out there who thinks newborns behave perfectly or sleep during an entire session… they do cry sometimes!

The studio shots: I absolutely LOVE family portraits like this!

Emma Ruth must have loved being in our 84+ degree studio that afternoon (which was on purpose!) because she fell asleep quickly and didn’t wake up until they put her back in her car seat to leave. I told them they could bring her back anytime to take a long afternoon nap in there. =)

This fireman’s helmet belongs to Garret’s daddy. He sure enjoyed getting his hands dirty… Isn’t he cute?

I can’t believe Garrett is already 9 months old and that we only have one more session (his first birthday) before we are finished with his Baby’s First Year portrait plan!

Craig and Jenna got married fifteen years ago this summer. As a way to celebrate this special anniversary, Jenna contacted me about doing a portrait session of just the two of them. I absolutely loved working with them and capturing their relationship in photographs! You guys are so fun and adorable!

P.S. Thanks for the tips about Italy. I can’t wait! =)

Don’t you just love receiving baby announcements in the mail? I sure do!

A few weeks ago we added 6 NEW adorable designs for you to pick from. These baby announcements come as 5×5 or 5×7 inch cards that are printed on art recycled paper. Your newborn images (between 1 and 4 based on the design) will adorn the front and the details about the birth will go on the back. All colors and text are customizable… you get to pick! These announcements, just like our other holiday cards, are sold in sets of 24 cards with white envelopes.

Here is one of them… showcasing baby Clara!

Josh and Alix got married on a very cold and rainy day in February. Obviously, we weren’t able to be outside for many photos, so we decided to schedule a post wedding session for just the two of them. With their wedding attire on once again and we headed out to an open field. Unfortunately, there was a huge storm on the way. Not good.

We ended up waiting indoors for about 2 hours until the rain stopped. Then we headed back outside. By then the lighting was absolutely beautiful and we had so much fun even though it was wet and muddy! Josh and Alix are so cute together!

A few weeks ago Lacey contacted me about doing a portrait session of herself and her younger sister, Leah. As we began planning the details, I found out that her mother has gotten their portrait made together every five years. I was so excited and honored to be a part of this tradition! Both Lacey and Leah are super sweet and so natural in front of the camera which meant that this was a super fun session!

They described their relationship as super close, best friends! Can you tell?

(I miss my sister so much! Love you, Beth!)

As you know one of my goals for this blog is to showcase some fun, creative and modern ideas for displaying images in your home. If you have children, I bet you have a million and one prints that you would love to display but not enough room to frame them all. A while back I came across this really fun idea from the fabulous Nate & Jaclyn Kaiser of The Image is Found (I LOVE their work!!) and I have been dying to share it!

This is my personal interpretation of what they have in their home.

These three magnet boards hang beside my desk (where all of the after-magic happens).

Just like the Kaisers, I bought the magnet boards from Ikea but I used magnets I already had. I still really want to buy these adorable ones from the Container Store that they used!

Isn’t this fun?

What I also love about this idea is that you can update the boards as the year goes on. The prints that come down go straight into an album. It’s a win-win all around!

Last weekend we traveled to Oklahoma to visit some of Cade’s family for a weekend on the lake. The weather was fabulous and we were so excited to see everyone again, especially our niece, Lyric! We hadn’t seen her since she was born and now she is 18 months old. Wow! She has gotten so big!

You sure wouldn’t know it from these pictures, but Lyric is actually very shy.

I can’t believe that little Caroline is already 2 years old! I have been photographing her (and her family) since she was a newborn. It is such an honor to watch little kiddos grow up around me. How fun! At two years old, Caroline is so full of life and loves to run around (which is great because she has 3 older brothers to keep up with)! I love how expressive and outgoing she is!
